We strive to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information in the culinary world through tireless research and development as well as through practicing our cooking skills.

Overview​
Founded 2012

To us, cooking is more than just a means of providing adequate sustenance for daily consumption. For us, food preparation and consumption is a way of life. The plate is a canvas. Our pots, pans, and utensils are our paint brush with which we wield our wares to the best of our abilities to present to the consumer the most attractive and tasteful meal possible. Food to us is a passion. What makes food the most important aspect of our lives above all else is that for us it is the core element that makes a wholesome and happy household.

To know how food became so important in our lives you must first know where this journey began for us.

Our Origins

The beginning of the FilipinoChow.com website has it’s roots many years ago in the youth of the founders and contributors of this organization. Although we all come from different parts of the world and didn’t grow up together or know each other until later in life, we all still have one thing in common. When we all were growing up, there was one thing that all our families shared as a core element of what it meant to be a part of and participate in our families. That is cooking. And not just simply cooking itself but cooking together as a family. Cooking has been a family tradition in all of the lives.

The Early Years

The seeds of what would become FilipinoChow.com were sown when we as children were brought up in the kitchen preparing the meals of our lives with our mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Being in the kitchen on the morning or afternoon before a big holiday or family gathering helping to prepare the coming feast was commonplace in our household. Although this was considered to be an annoying task to perform when we were children, as we grew older a love for food preparation was born because of the time that you get to spend with your family when you are there in the kitchen preparing a meal together.

In the beginning​

As our youth blossomed into adulthood, we all progressed in terms of our cooking skills. As with anything, practice always makes perfect. Although our culinary skills were raw and unrefined in the beginning, in our adulthood we found that our skills were exceptional. As we came to know each other we found kinship in our love of food and cooking and decided that we would share that love with the world. And thus FilipinoChow.com was born.

Development​

With everyone involved in FilipinoChow.com coming from different parts of the world, the recipes and culinary knowledge that we have compiled truly spans the entire globe. As a result, the content we have collected has taken quite some time to prepare for public view. The initial idea to share everything we know about Filipino food and cooking was met with great excitement but also some hesitation. None of us knew where to begin when it comes to web publishing.

Luckily one of our contributors has a web developer in their family. They were generous enough to work with us in the planning phase for the website and actually became more actively involved later on by designing and developing the website you see here today. It took a lot of research and development to get everything just right. We are proud of what we have now. We feel that our website is just as good as the other food blogs that are out there.

Today

Through the years we have gathered a vast collection of recipes and techniques from family, friends, magazines, cookbooks, etc. We have taken all that we know and all that we have and written that into a format that we feel is understandable and can easily relate to people. This is what the information that we present to you today on FilipinoChow.com consists of. And as time goes on we continue to keep up with the latest trends in the culinary world in order to keep the information on FilipinoChow.com relevant and up to date.

As the name of this site suggests, our primary focus is on Filipino food and cooking methods. But we don’t exclude other cultural influences that aren’t directly related to the Philippines either. Rather we embrace any and all of the culinary traditions of the world that are of interest to those in the Filipino community. With the Filipino community truly being a global community, with members of this community residing in nearly every corner of the earth. The culinary influences that have been imparted to Filipino cuisine and the influence that Filipino food has had on the cuisine of many regions throughout the world is as far reaching as it is delicious.

Not only will you find all of the Philippines favorite dishes that those in the Filipino community know and love, but you will also discover the foods of the world that Filipinos living abroad have learned to cherish and adapt as their own. This is what makes FilipinoChow.com truly unique.

We have found that over time a person develops a sense of pride in their cooking abilities as they learn new techniques and expand their knowledge of the culinary arts.
